As writers, we can sit in front of that computer screen all day long, but is that really going to serve us?
Number One: It's not healthy to sit in front of a computer screen all day.
Number Two: You will probably be more creative if you get up and away from that computer and exercise!
In my other job, (for 25 years) I am a personal trainer and yoga instructor. One of the things I have learned over the years is that the best way to get creative is to get up off the computer and either go running, swimming, Spinning, or do some yoga. Use your body! I do it all the time when I'm stuck with my writing: I get up, do some Yoga or I go to the gym and Spin. I exercise and I get clear. If I'm working on a big project, I like to set a timer and I alternate between writing and doing vigorous Yoga, and by golly, it works. A lot of my best ideas are generated when I'm taking a fast walk or on the spin bike. (Always have your phone handy to jot down exercise inspiration!)
When one does vigorous exercise endorphins are released in your body and serotonin is release in your brain. These body chemicals will chill you out, calm you down and make you feel good, so you return to your writing in a different creative space.
Also, just by moving your body, you will break the pattern of your "Stuck" thinking!
So give it a try! Move that bod, and create your next masterpiece!
