This July, Manhattan Rep is offering a Performing Arts Camp for Young Adults (Ages 11 - 16) at our new location at 17-19 West 45th St.

We are offering three different week - long camps to help your child excel in acting or playwriting (or both.)

 

ACTING TECHNIQUE FOR YOUNG ADULTS(Ages 11 - 16)

Monday July 10 - Friday July 14, 2017- 9 am to 4 pm.  

Taught by Jennifer Pierro and Ken Wolf Co/Founders - Manhattan Repertory Theatre

 

This week- long Acting Camp will teach the principles and skills for Young Adults to build a life-long Acting Technique.

Skills Taught:

  • How to create a compelling character.

  • How to make the best acting choices for your character.

  • How to eliminate Stage Fright and feel comfortable on stage.

  • How to truly listen and react on stage.

  • How to make your performance personal and compelling.

  • How to effectively analyze a scene

  • How to use FUN to super charge your performance.

This week-long Acting Camp will culminate with a presentation for family and friends on Friday July 14 at 3 pm.

Participants will be responsible for their own bagged lunch and snack.

Beverages will be provided.

Essential Acting Skills for Young Adults(Ages 11 - 16)

(Improvisation, Voice, Speech, Movement and Posture)

Monday July 17 - Friday July 21, 2017- 9 am to 4 pm.  

 

Taught by Jennifer Pierro and Ken Wolf Co/Founders - Manhattan Repertory Theatre

 

This week-long Acting Skills Camp will teach specific skills for Young Adults to excel in acting.

Skills Taught:

  • How to be more spontaneous and creative

  • How to free your voice and project your voice easily and effortlessly

  • How to improve your diction and the clarity of your voice

  • How to easily learn any dialect so that you can play any almost any character

  • How to use your body and movement to embody any character

  • How to effectively perform any monologue

This week long Acting Skills Camp will culminate with a presentation for family and friends on Friday July 21 at 3 pm.

Participants will be responsible for their own bagged lunch and snack.

Beverages will be provided.

PLAYWRITING 101 (Ages 11 - 16)

Monday July 24 - Friday July 28, 2017- 9 am to 4 pm.  

Taught by Jennifer Pierro and Ken Wolf Co/Founders - Manhattan Repertory Theatre

 

This week-long Playwriting Camp will teach the principles and skills for Young Adults to build specific and measurable playwriting skills:

Skills Taught:

  • How to choose a great story to write about.

  • The best way to start a play

  • How to write compelling characters

  • Best practices for writing a play

  • Best practices for editing a play

  • How to write amazing and truthful dialogue

  • How to workshop your play to develop your play further 

This week-long Playwriting Camp will culminate with a reading of the week's 10 Minute plays for family and friends on Friday July 28 at 3 pm.

Participants will be responsible for their own bagged lunch and snack.

Beverages will be provided.

Jennifer Pierro

Jennifer Pierro is the Co-Founder & CEO/CFO at Manhattan Repertory Theatre.

Jennifer is an Italian American Actress/Voice-Over Artist and a proud member of AEA & SAG-AFTRA unions. She started her acting career at the age of 16 at the famous HB Studio in Greenwich Village NYC under the guidance of Jeanne Kaplan. Over the years she has performed in and around NYC doing Theatre, Film, TV & Voice-Overs.  She currently resides in NYC with her incredible partner/love of her life Ken Wolf and their amazing adorable little actress dog Roma Pierro-Wolf.

Ken Wolf

Ken Wolf is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Manhattan Rep and the author of over 20 plays. He has also directed over 50 productions including The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Three Sisters, Tales of Terror, and Men. As Artistic Director at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, he has produced over 1000 full length plays and over 2000 short pieces.

His One Man play The People in my Hips was hailed by Martin Denton of nytheatre.com as being “unlike any theatre piece I have ever seen.” And Lise Avery of Anything Goes!! Internationally Syndicated Radio said “THE PEOPLE IN MY HIPS is one of the most extraordinary pieces of theatre I have seen on or Off-Broadway in years.  Mr. Wolf’s one-man performance is exquisite, inspiring, courageous and beautifully constructed.” Recently, he received rave reviews with the amazing 7lb Morkie Roma Pierro-Wolf, in his play DAD AND THE DOG, New York City’s first One Man One Dog show.  He is a passionate teacher and creative artist. He lives with the incredible Jennifer Pierro and the adorable Roma Pierro-Wolf in Manhattan.
